Beneath the sweltering sun, young tennis enthusiasts gather in a makeshift court, their passion for the sport undeterred by the lack of proper facilities.
Tennis, a sport often seen as exclusive and reserved for the privileged, has begun to make its way into the hearts of underprivileged youth in the Philippines. In 2022, during a visit to the cities of Manila and Bohol, the seeds of a movement were sown – a movement that aimed to make tennis accessible to everyone.
The journey began…
with a chance encounter with several local tennis coaches, who shared their love for the game and their unwavering commitment to teach under-served youth in their respective communities.
Despite facing challenges such as insufficient equipment, inadequate courts, and limited tournament opportunities, their spirit remained strong. Inspired by their dedication, a vision to transform the landscape of tennis in the Philippines was born.
